What Went On At Omatsuri Time! 2022

Ever since Malaysia has permitted the running of outdoor gatherings and activities, many Anime, Comic and Games (ACG) events have taken place throughout the year.

Omatsuri Time! 2022, organised by Season4Otaku, was one of many such events that were happening on the 30th and 31st of July. The event ran from 10am to 6pm on both days at Da Men Mall, USJ 1 Subang Jaya, with tons of fun activities and booths centered around Japanese culture.

We dropped by Day 2 of Omatsuri Time! 2022, so allow us to share some insights on what went on. Let’s dive right into it!

The highlight of the day was definitely the Pop Culture Hiroshima Group Cosplay Competition, where a total of three teams performed a skit in pairs. The judges of the competition were Taka and Wen from Dai_SPAMMERZ; Stupig Don, the previous winner of Pop Culture Hiroshima 2020; Celestia of Celestia 龍姫; and last but not least, the distinguished Reika Arikawa from Japan.

The grand prize for the Pop Culture Hiroshima Group Cosplay Competition was definitely not your average ACG event competition reward. The winning team would be awarded a cultural exchange trip to Japan, along with some goodies from the sponsors. All the participating teams gave their utmost best performance to appeal to the judges, in hopes of winning the grand prize for themselves.

We’d like to give big round of applause to the winning team, who performed the rare Naruto characters battle skit! The character portrayal was on-point, with the addition of it not being a mundane character from the series that people would expect at every cosplay competition. All in all, the competition was truly an amazing experience!

Aside from the cosplay competition, there were other programs that took place on stage as well, such as a snging performance by KOOHSH, Ellemonade and Rina Tan; a stage session with King Angel and friends; and a DJ performence by Daylight Culture.

There was also a wide range of anime merchandise sold by vendors at the event. Many talented artists could be seen boothing at Omatsuri Time!, selling handmade merchandise from series like Genshin Impact, Spy x Family, Pokémon and so much more!

And there you have it – all the programs that happened at Omatsuri Time! Day 2. Overall, the event was a great get-together for many people within the ACG community. Shout-out to Season4Otaku for organising this event and we hope to see more from them in the future!
