Earlier this month, Funcom hosted a large-scale Beta Weekend for its upcoming multiplayer survival game, Dune: Awakening. The event was a major success, drawing nearly 40,000 players to the sands of Arrakis, and stress-testing core systems ahead of the game’s June 10th launch.
Beta Weekend Highlights
Players experienced roughly 20-25 hours of early survival gameplay, exploring 25% of the Hagga Basin map. The beta featured intense PvE and PvP encounters, crafting mechanics, and survival challenges, including sandworms, dehydration risks, and faction-based conflicts
One of the most talked-about aspects of the beta was the “knife meta”, where players exploited an overpowered melee mechanic to dominate fights. Funcom has since confirmed that this issue will be patched before launch.
Upcoming Livestream: Beyond the Beta
To give players a deeper look at mid-to-endgame content, Funcom will host an exclusive livestream on May 28th. The event will showcase:
- Deep Desert exploration: Unveiling endgame PvE and PvP challenges.
- Expanded Hagga Basin gameplay: New areas, structures, and survival mechanics.
- Advanced systems: Including The Landsraad, a political faction system.
The event will be streamed live via Funcom’s Twitch and YouTube channels at 18:00 CEST (12:00AM MYT).
Dune: Awakening will launch this June 10, with a June 5 head start for Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners. You can now buy the game on Steam, and top up your Steam wallets on Codashop for extra bonuses.
