‘The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender’ Pushes Release Date To October 9, 2026

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, a sequel-spinoff based on the critically acclaimed animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, has pushed back its release date from January 30 to October 9, 2026.

The film is set to be directed by Lauren Montgomery (Superman: Doomsday, Wonder Woman, Across The Spider-Verse) and co-directed by William Mata (Dora and the Fantastical Creatures), with original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko serving as executive producers. Animation will be provided by Studio Mir, who previously worked on Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

The movie follows young adult versions of the Gaang as they set out on a new adventure through the world of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. It will star Eric Nam as Aang, Dionne Quan as Toph, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, and Dave Bautista as a new villain.

Another Avatar spinoff, an animated series titled Avatar: Seven Havens, is also in the works at Nickelodeon. The series will follow a new cast of characters, including a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar.
