Onimusha: Way of the Sword Confirms Nintendo Switch 2 Version

CAPCOM confirmed during the recent Nintendo Direct that Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an all-new entry in the Japanese swordplay action game series, launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on 25 September 2026, releasing simultaneously with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Players can also get even closer to the action with exclusive motion controls on Nintendo Switch 2. This input option wields the Joy-Con 2 controllers, offering an intuitive way to enjoy the title’s exhilarating sword combat and perform other in-game actions, such as aiming with the bow.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first brand-new entry in the Onimusha franchise in 20 years. The dark fantasy adventure follows the story of Miyamoto Musashi, a young samurai whose legend is etched in Japanese history, as he battles monstrous Genma invading Edo-period Kyoto.

Armed with the mystical Oni Gauntlet, players will wield power beyond human limits to take down creatures from the underworld in absorbing combat that matches depth with intensity.

The game is available for pre-order today via the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Windows Store.
