The next instalment in the God of War series was recently revealed at PlayStation’s 2026 State of Play. The upcoming God of War: Laufey by Sony Santa Monica will follow Faye, Kratos’ late wife, as the main character. The reveal was also accompanied with a gameplay showcase, and is exclusively for PS5. However, no release date has been confirmed.
In the reveal, we learn that Faye is in the afterlife of the gods, meeting gods from other pantheons who aren’t too friendly. Deborah Ann Woll will be reprising her role as Faye, and accompanying her is Phranque, a gelatinous cube voiced by Jack Quaid! Check out the gameplay reveal below:
Thus far, we can confirm the presence of two gods from different pantheons. Firstly, we have Sekhmet, the “lioness“-headed goddess from the Egyptian pantheon. Sekhmet is an Egyptian goddess of war and healing, among other things. Then, we have Begtse, the Mongolian god of war, whose title speaks for itself.

From the trailer, we’re immediately informed that they are antagonistic towards Faye. Why? Guess we gotta wait for more info to be revealed!
