Oxalis Games has launched its narrative-driven cozy life-sim RPG Moonfrost in Steam Early Access, priced at US$14.99 / £12.99 / €14.99.
Moonfrost combines life-sim activities with building, exploration and a character-driven story. Players take on the role of a Frost Hunter tasked with restoring a struggling village while uncovering the mystery surrounding a second moon.
Rebuild the Village and Its Community
The world of Moonfrost was devastated a century ago when a second moon appeared, raining icy meteorites across the land. Survivors named the mysterious substance left behind “Moonfrost,” with Frost Hunters eventually learning how to harness the power contained within the frozen shards.
Restoring the village is at the centre of Moonfrost. Rebuilding homes and businesses brings villagers back to the community, introducing new characters and relationships as the settlement grows. Each character has their own personality and story arc, with players able to develop friendships and romances. Decisions made throughout the game can also influence relationships and how the wider community develops.
Players can farm, fish, forage and gather resources before crafting them into useful goods. Quests unlock new tools, while completing requests provides resources for future crafting and construction projects. Meanwhile, beyond the safety of the settlement lie ancient temples filled with enemies, traps and rare resources. These locations also contain clues surrounding the history of the world and the truth behind the mysterious second moon.
Moonfrost features a next-generation pixel art presentation supported by detailed animations and music, combining its cozy atmosphere with deeper exploration and mystery elements.
Moonfrost is available now in Steam Early Access for PC.
