Mizuho Kusanagi’s Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona) revealed last Friday that a sequel anime is in the works. The news was announced in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine, in the same issue as the final chapter of the manga.
The magazine also announced that the manga will be receiving an extra chapter and supplementary fan book in the magazine’s sixth issue, which will ship on February 20th, 2026.
Yona of the Dawn follows the story of a Yona, a red-haired princess who loses her family and her kingdom after a tragedy strikes on her 16th birthday. Reeling from the shock, she flees from the palace with her faithful guard Hak’s help, but where will this displaced princess go when all the paths before her are uncertain?
The original anime adaptation premiered in 2014 and aired for 24 episodes. Studio Pierrot was in charge of the animation, but it is yet to be confirmed whether they will return to animate the sequel.
