Galileo Galilei To Release Single For ‘Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo’ Opening Theme

Japanese band Galileo Galilei will officially release “Komorebizaka,” the opening theme for the anime series Kujima Utaeba le Hororo, as a single this June 24. The single release follows the premiere of Kujima Utaeba le Hororo, which began airing earlier this April 9.

Based on a manga by Akira Konno, Kujima Utaeba le Hororo was released to much acclaim in Shogakukan’s monthly Gessan magazine, later going on to win the U-NEXT Award at the 2022 Next Manga Awards. It was also ranked among the top staff-recommended titles by multiple Japanese bookstores in 2023, and has drawn strong enthusiasm from industry buyers.

The story follows Arata Kouda, a first-year middle school student whose life takes an unexpected turn after encountering Kujima, a mysterious creature that has somehow traveled from Russia to Japan. What begins as a strange meeting gradually reshapes the dynamics of Arata’s household.

The anime’s opening theme, “Komorebizaka,” was written specifically for the series following a heartfelt request from Akira Konno, resulting in a collaboration that reflects a deep mutual respect between artist and author. The single release will also include the insert song “Hito wa Wataridori”, also performed by the band for the series; as well as a CD jacket featuring an original illustration by Konno.

About Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei, the band behind the opening theme, was formed in 2007 in Wakkanai, Hokkaido, by brothers Yuuki Ozaki (vocals, guitar) and Kazuki Ozaki (drums). They gained early recognition after winning the Senko Riot Grand Prix in 2008 and made their major debut in 2010 with the mini album Hamanasu no Hana. Known for their clear melodies and introspective lyrics, the band has built a dedicated international following.

Over the years, Galileo Galilei has contributed notable anime theme songs, including “Natsuzora” (opening theme for Big Windup! 2) and “Aoi Shiori” ( opening theme for Ano Hana: The Flower We Saw That Day). Looking ahead, the band is set to embark on their nationwide tour, “NAKED HERO,” in May 2026, which will span seven cities across Japan.
