Global VTuber agency Hololive celebrated its 9th anniversary with “Hololive Next”, a direct-style livestream revealing the company’s major plans for its 10th anniversary in 2027. A special countdown website was also launched in conjunction with the livestream, set to be updated with more news and updates as the 10th anniversary draws closer.
In case you missed it, here’s what you need to know:
1. Hololive Merges All Four Branches
Hololive previously operated under four major branches: the main Japanese-speaking branch Hololive; its foreign-language sub-groups Hololive Indonesia and Hololive English; and the performance group-based Hololive DEV_IS.
Going forward, all four Hololive branches will be consolidated under the main Hololive brand, with the goal of transcending regional and group boundaries, in order to create more open and global content.
2. Talents Will Recieve Visual Updates
Hololive will embark on large-scale visual updates for its talent roster, with the goal of better reflecting each VTuber’s current activities and future direction. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the brand aims to tailor the scale of each update to the individual needs of each talent.
The first talent to recieve this visual update was revealed to be founding member Tokino Sora, who showcased her new model on a subsequent livestream.
3. Hololive Launches Its Own Streaming App, “HoloRaku”
Launching in late September, Hololive Raku (or “HoloRaku”) is a new streaming app built around the concept of: “The usual home streams. Even more stunning. Even more fun.”
While details are still scarce, HoloRaku’s accompanying teaser trailer seems to indicate that the platform will offer a previously unprecedented level of immersion, with livestreams conducted in virtual environments that viewers can explore, as well as interactive games and chat features.
4. Hololive Anime Series Officially Revealed
“OdeHolo” is a new animated series that will bring the world of Hololive’s VTuber talents to life. Production is handled by Studio KAI, an animation studio best known for their work on Fuuto Tantei, Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, and the Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime. Studio KAI also previously animated a number of music videos for Hololive’s talents, including Flower Rhapsody and Seishun Archive.
A livestream revealing more information on OdeHolo will be broadcast on September 23, featuring talents Momosuzu Nene, Omaru Polka, Yukihana Lamy, Shishiro Botan, Shirakami Fubuki, and Ookami Mio.
5. New Hololive VTuber Unit, “ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI!“
Last but certainly not least, Hololive is set to debut its first new unit in nearly two years. Dubbed “ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI!”, more information on the new group is set to be released throughout the month of September.
It is currently unclear if this unit is related to Hololive’s previously announced VTuber trainee program, mekPARK; or if the group consists of entirely new additions to Hololive’s talent roster.
