The Naruto franchise is set to make several major announcements at New York Comic Con 2026, including the official reveal of a brand-new Naruto anime series. The announcements will be made during the “Naruto: What’s Next? ” stage panel, which will also be livestreamed on YouTube at the link below:
The upcoming Naruto anime was originally described as a four-episode limited TV series, slated for a September 2023 release as part of the anime’s 20th anniversary celebrations. In August 2023, the anime’s official website announced that the series would be delayed “in order to further elevate its quality”, with no updates provided on its status until now.
The “Naruto: What’s Next?” panel will also feature updates on the upcoming Naruto Trading Card Game, which is slated for a 2027 release; as well as guest appearances from Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama, the voice actors behind Naruto and Sasuke respectively; alongside Yoshihiko Tominaga, Executive Producer at Studio Pierrot.
Based on a manga of the same name by Masashi Kishimoto, the Naruto series follows Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who sets out on a journey to become the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. The manga has sold over 250 million copies worldwide, and has inspired various anime, film, and videogame spinoffs, including an upcoming live-action adaptation that’s being directed by Daniel Destin Cretton.
