“Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You!” Screens in Cinemas This 7 December!

Screening in TGV Cinemas this 7th December 2017, “Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You!” will finally be coming to Malaysian shores! The movie is being released as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations and is said to be a loose retelling of the anime’s first season, harking back to a simpler time when our favourite duo – Ash Ketchum and Pikachu – first meet.

Despite mostly positive reviews, the movie has received its fair share of criticism (SPOILERS) due to the absence of Misty and Brock, and the fact that Pikachu actually speaks in the film. Even so, the movie has already managed to top the Japanese box office records, earning more than 516 million yen (US$4.61 million) in the first two days of screening alone. Some reviewers have even touted it as the ultimate movie for classic Pokémon fans.

Whether that is the truth, we’ll have to verify this coming December 7. Until then, see you in the cinemas!
