Kaguya-sama: Love is War is returning with a new anime project, though it’s not the long-anticipated Season 4. Aniplex has announced a TV special titled Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood, with no release date or runtime yet revealed.
The announcement comes three years after the anime’s last appearance in 2022, which adapts up to chapter 160 of the manga. It is currently unclear if the new TV special will adapt any of the remaining 120 manga chapters, or if it will consist of an entirely original story.
Based on the manga of the same name by Aka Akasaka, Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War is a highly acclaimed romantic comedy that follows Miyuki Shirogane, the student council president of Shuchiin Academy, and her vice-president, Kaguya Shinomiya. While both have feelings for each other, their pride keeps them from confessing. Instead, the series follows their daily antics as they try to get the other side to reveal their feelings.
The manga was serialized in Weekly Young Jump, Shueisha’s seinen magazine, from 2015 to 2022. It received an anime adaptation in 2019, as well as a 2022 movie, Kaguya-sama: Love is War –The First Kiss That Never Ends.
