CloverWorks Releases Anime Adaptations Of HYBE Webtoons ‘7Fates: CHAKHO’ And ‘THE STAR SEEKERS’

Popular anime studio CloverWorks have released two animated short films based on two Webtoon series, 7FATES: CHAKHO and THE STAR SEEKERS, which were originally created in collaboration with the Korean entertainment company HYBE.

The first short, 7FATES: CHAKHO, is directed by Shin Wakabayashi of Wonder Egg Priority fame. The original webtoon stars fictional versions of the seven members of BTS, who live in a fantasy world terrorized by mysterious creatures named beom that attack the humans living in the city. The seven main characters eventually come together to form a beom hunting group in the hopes of saving their city.

The second short is THE STAR SEEKERS, helmed by One Punch Man director Chiaki Sakurai, which follows fictional versions of the boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER. The story is set in a fantasy world where idols with magical powers are beloved by the public, while idols without magic are shunned. An unpopular idol group named Star One is suddenly gifted with magical powers, and are now unexpectedly also tasked with saving the world.

Each film is approximately ten minutes in length, and can be watched for free on CloverWorks’ Youtube page, though both shorts are currently only available in Japanese, without English subtitles.

HYBE has released a number of webtoons based on their idol groups over the past few years. Aside from the two mentioned above, they have previously released other series such as Save Me, a second work inspired by BTS; Dark Moon, inspired by ENHYPEN, and Crimson Heart, inspired by LE SSERAFIM.
