Capcom’s iconic sword-fighting action series returns with its latest instalment, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. A new trailer has been released for the latest entry in the Onimusha series, which was first announced in December last year.
This entry in the swordplay action series is set in an early Edo period Kyoto, twisted by the influence of the encroaching Malice. The new trailer gives us a glimpse of this title’s expressive protagonist as he fights for his very life. Along with a preview of the protagonist, the trailer also introduced several of the enemies he will face and showcased how he will confront them.
The Onimusha series is known for casting eminent historical figures such as Samanosuke Akechi and Jubei Yagyu, widely known in Japan, as protagonists.
However this time, the story will follow a legend known throughout the world. Miyamoto Musashi (VA: Kenichiro Thomson) has been depicted in numerous forms throughout time, and Capcom has enlisted none other than the late, iconic Japanese samurai movie legend Toshiro Mifune to star as the face model for this rendition.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam in 2026. In the meantime, Capcom will also be releasing the remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny this May 23rd, 2025.
