Kadokawa announced that the television anime adaptation of Ryoko Kui’s Delicious In Dungeon (or Dungeon Meshi) will receive a second season! The news was revealed with a special visual and video recapping the first season.
The first season contained 24 episodes and premiered worldwide on Netflix on January 4th, 2024. The story begins when young adventurer Laios and his party are attacked by a dragon, causing them to lose all their money and provisions. They’re eager to head back into the dungeon, but there’s just one problem: what are they going to eat?!
The television anime was animated by Studio Trigger and directed by Yoshihiro Miyajima (SSSS.Gridman), with character design by Naoki Takeda (BNA: Brand New Animal) and music composed by Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles, Black Butler: Book of Circus).
If you can’t wait for the next season, the manga that inspired the anime recently completed on September 15th, 2023 after a 9-year run. Manga artist Ryoko Kui was heavily inspired by her love for CRPGs to create Delicious In Dungeon, including franchises like Baldur’s Gate, Pathfinder, and Dragon Quest.
