gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show Concludes Its Most International Edition With 219,546 Attendees

gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show welcomed games industry professionals from around the world to Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) this October 29th to November 1st. This year, exhibitors from a record 29 countries and regions, including 20 national pavilions from 12 markets, brought studios, publishers, investors and government delegations from Asia, Europe and North America under one roof.

DOOM and Quake co-creator John Romero opened the business days with the headline keynote, Why We Still Make Games. In conversation with Evva Karr, CEO of Glitch, Romero reflected on more than four decades in the industry, the setbacks that tested him, and why the next generation of developers still has every reason to believe in games, before taking questions from the floor.

“New ideas are the most important ingredient because you can bring experience to developing a new idea, but it’s new ideas that keep the industry moving forward… I love indie games. There’s tons of new ideas there, and I’m excited by people who are going to try stuff and see what happens,” shared Romero.

Creativity and longevity took center stage throughout the two-day business area, where speakers from AdHoc Studio, Ubisoft, Digixart, KRAFTON, and more shared their insights into how distinctive IP is built and sustained. Meanwhile, the Pitch Competition also concluded with MiMu Studio’s Little Old One and the Witch winning Best Visual, NOTAI Games’ Slop Capital taking Best Game Design, and Hypercent Inc.’s Backroom Cleaners securing the audience-voted Most Anticipated Game award.

Across the entertainment area from October 30th to November 1st, the consumer show opened as fans got hands-on with some of the year’s most anticipated titles. CAPCOM brought multiplayer hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, alongside Pragmata, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Southeast Asia’s first playable demo of Mega Man: Dual Override.

CAPCOM also took to the Main Stage with a special Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance presentation featuring producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. The session offered fans a closer look at the game’s new Skybound Eyrie locale, alongside live commentary and an opportunity for audience members to take part in a multiplayer hunt.

Bandai Namco offered demos of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and The Blood of Dawnwalker, plus first looks at Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 and Final Fantasy VII Revelation, while SEGA ATLUS showcased Persona 4 Revival, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN and Total War: Warhammer 40,000. Riot Games also returned to the show’s entertainment area, engaging fans through activities centred on League of Legends and VALORANT.

Beyond that, a record-breaking 20 national pavilions including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the host nation Thailand featured indie games from around the world. The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) brought six Malaysian games to the event: Mighty JazuSaru (Studio Raksa), Yooca: Your Life (Youniverse Games), OPERATIVES: Revolve (Enigma Equation), ToGather: Island (Todak Studios), wildwildeden (Magnus Games), and Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale (Metronomik).

gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show is set to return to Bangkok next year on 21-24 October 2027.
