Hong Kong artist Sim Chan will bring his miniature theme park The Infinite-land to Galeri Filamen at GMBB Kuala Lumpur from November 6, 2026 to January 24, 2027.
Curated by Kobe Ko, the exhibition features 15 artworks that transform familiar aspects of everyday life into miniature scenes, exploring the humour and strange familiarity found in everyday habits, behaviours, and surroundings.
A Miniature World Inspired by Malaysia
In The Infinite-land, each artwork functions as an attraction within an unconventional miniature theme park. Visitors can peer through tiny windows, discover miniature figures in familiar situations, and explore mirrored spaces that create the illusion of endless environments.
The exhibition also includes interactive elements such as claw machines and gachapon machines. Each visitor will receive a coin with their admission ticket to use inside the exhibition.

For its Kuala Lumpur edition, Sim has drawn further inspiration from Malaysian life, incorporating local habits, festivals, and familiar objects into his miniature world. One scene, for example, places tiny figures playing badminton inside a Milo box, while another transforms a capsule machine into a floating durian.
The exhibition will also feature a new live projection work created in collaboration with Filamen, incorporating visitors themselves into The Infinite-land.
From Tainan to Kuala Lumpur
The Infinite-land was first presented in Tainan in 2024, where the exhibition attracted queues outside its intimate exhibition space. It subsequently made its Malaysian debut at Blank Canvas in Penang in 2025, where its run was extended beyond its original closing date. Kuala Lumpur marks the exhibition’s third iteration, with Sim creating new works inspired by the city and its surroundings.

Born and based in Hong Kong, Sim’s practice focuses on observing cities and the routines of everyday life. Working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, he combines miniature models, lighting, mechanical structures, found and recycled materials, and mirrors to reconstruct familiar scenes.
His use of mirrored interiors transforms physically small spaces into seemingly expansive worlds, encouraging visitors to look closely and discover details hidden within the miniature environments.
The Infinite-land runs from November 6, 2026 to January 24, 2027 at Galeri Filamen, GMBB Kuala Lumpur. Tickets can be purchased via CloudJoi.
