Mob Entertainment has announced an October 21, 2026 release date for Escape From Playtime, a four-player co-op survival horror extraction game set in the Poppy Playtime universe.
The game will launch first in Steam Early Access, sending players back into the abandoned Playtime Co. factory as the cute yet unsettling Smiling Critters, the toy characters first introduced in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3.
Survive the Playtime Co. Factory
Players can venture into the factory alone or form a team of up to four Smiling Critters. Each run takes players through a dynamically changing section of the facility, where they must search for materials and return them to a mysterious Voice.
The Voice promises a home and freedom for toys that prove their loyalty and usefulness, but its true intentions remain unclear. Meanwhile, rejected Playtime Co. creations roam the facility, forcing players to decide when to explore, split up, regroup or retreat.
Players will explore familiar locations including classrooms, warehouses, testing labs and the dark corridors connecting them.
Scavenge, Solve and Stay Hidden
Survival revolves around exploration and teamwork rather than direct combat. Players can solve puzzles, collect tools, uncover clues, use hiding spots and take alternate routes to avoid enemies.
Proximity voice chat adds another layer of risk, making communication important while potentially allowing careless conversations to alert nearby threats.
The game also features a Mini Mode, allowing players to crawl, jump and climb through the factory as a Smiling Critter while experiencing familiar Poppy Playtime locations from a smaller perspective.
The factory itself will not remain completely predictable. The mysterious Voice appears to alter the facility, with procedurally generated environments changing the layout between runs.
Early Access Content
At launch, the Early Access version is planned to include:
- Four playable Smiling Critters, with four additional characters to unlock
- One starter zone
- A core lineup of enemies
- Solo play and co-op for up to four players
- Procedurally changing environments
- Proximity voice chat
- Exploration, puzzle-solving and resource scavenging
Mob Entertainment plans to expand the game throughout Early Access with additional zones, Critters, features and refinements based on player feedback.
