‘Path of Exile 2’ Goes 1.0 with Free-to-Play Launch on December 11

Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile 2 will launch its 1.0 full release on December 11, 2026 (PST), transitioning from Early Access to a fully free-to-play action RPG. The announcement was made during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 with a new trailer showcasing the game’s 1.0 content.

The full release introduces the Duelist, a highly anticipated sword-focused melee class, along with the remaining campaign Acts to complete the main storyline. The 1.0 version will also include substantial additional content and changes.

The Duelist: Swords Arrive in Wraeclast

Raised as an orphan in the slums, the Duelist trained relentlessly for a place in the Grand Arena, where he sought vengeance. Forced to flee during the Fall of Oriath, he now fights on behalf of those unable to defend themselves.

The Duelist is Path of Exile 2’s first sword-wielding class, introducing one of the game’s most anticipated weapon archetypes. A master of both sword and shield, he offers players new ways to control the battlefield through fast, aggressive, and adaptable melee combat. The reveal trailer showcased new sword skills, including a Blade Vortex-style spinning attack and a Flicker Strike-esque dash.
