ZHEN: Shattered Legacy, an ode to Kung Fu, developed by Malaysian studio Ghost Machine Games, is set to be published by Singapore-based Soft Source Publishing. A new trailer for the game, and its first publicly playable demo, were recently released in conjunction with Future Games Show’s BitSummit Direct.
In ZHEN: Shattered Legacy, you play as a robot warrior monk sent to the distinct lands of Zhen, a fictional, East-Asian inspired world desolated by an ancient war. Trained in the art of the simple bo staff, you begin your journey to challenge the Masters of Kung Fu, and become the new Grand Master of the land.
Fans of iconic portrayals of Kung Fu in media from classic Hong Kong films like The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Once Upon a Time in China, and Kung Fu Hustle, the team was inspired to create a similar experience for modern gamers.
The game utilises an old-school-style twin-stick mechanic where the right analog stick is used to target and strike your enemies, and the left analog stick is used for character movement. ZHEN rewards players that master timing, precision, and cadence as battles feel almost rhythmic as you dodge, parry, and strike your opponents in perfect fluidity.
