Playing for the Planet announced the official go live launch of the 2026 Green Game Jam, with 70 participating games beginning to roll out new in-game environmental activations to players worldwide.
The games are launching exclusive coral reef and rainforest themed content, events and challenges to celebrate World Environment Day, with yet more titles joining the festivities in September of this year making this year’s Green Game Jam the biggest to date.
An estimated 63 million daily active users will be reached by this year’s games, and as a result will raise awareness and vital funds for reef and rainforest ecosystems through official partners Oceana and Rainforest Alliance. HTML5 game platform Poki in particular has excelled and is rallying 20 of its titles to introduce themed updates, and pledging a portion of its revenue to the cause.
Participating game content will roll out from 5 June 2026 across mobile, PC and console platforms, with activations launching throughout the coming weeks. The Green Game Jam is an annual challenge run by Playing for the Planet. The jam involves video game studios with live games and existing audiences creating themed in-game content that engages players on a key environmental topic, which changes every year.
Now in its 7th year, the Jam harnesses the reach and cultural power of games to bring the message of environmental action to an annual average of 100 million daily users all over the world through in-game content, social media campaigns and other creative activations.
