Blizzard Entertainment is set to unleash a torrent of new content with the highly anticipated launch of Overwatch 2 Season 17 on June 24. Players can expect an array of exciting features, including innovative gameplay modes, fresh maps, and an unprecedented dual Mythic skin release.
Stadium Mode Updates
The round-based PvP mode Stadium is getting a major update:
- New Heroes: Zenyatta, Sigma, and Junkrat join the mode.
- New Maps: Esperança and Samoa will make their debut in Stadium.
- Stadium Forge: A new tool to create, save, and share team comps with loadout presets.
- Rank Reset: The first Stadium rank reset gives all players a fresh start.
- Custom Games & Rewards: Experiment with your own rules and earn new All-Star rewards.
- Stay updated through Weekly Recalls and Director’s Takes.
Map Voting Comes to Quick Play and Competitive

A new Map Voting feature will be implemented at launch for both Quick Play and Competitive modes, giving players a direct say in their battlefield. After role queue is locked, players will be presented with three randomized map options, which they can anonymously vote on.
It’s important to note that leaver penalties will now activate as soon as voting begins, encouraging players to commit to their matches.
New Maps
Season 17 is introducing three brand-new maps, each offering distinct environments and tactical opportunities.
- Aatlis (Flashpoint): A vibrant new Flashpoint map inspired by the beauty and culture of Morocco. Aatlis is designed for tighter engagements, cleaner rotations, and fast-paced momentum.
- Esperança (Stadium): Esperança will return in a round-based format, featuring new elevation layers that will shift tactics from round to round. This map is described as a Push map reimagined for Stadium’s unique structure.
- Samoa (Stadium): A volcanic control point from Samoa that promises open arenas, significant verticality, and an ideal setting for high-mobility compositions.
Dual Mythic Skins Debut
For the first time ever, two new Mythic skins will be made available at launch:

- Mythic Horang D.Va Skin: Inspired by the Korean myth of Sister Sun and Brother Moon, this skin progresses through four evolving tiers, featuring mythical VFX, thematic voice lines, and folklore-rooted customization options.

- Mythic Steel Death Reaper Weapon Skin: Reaper gets new shotguns forged in “soulfire and destruction,” with dark customizations and haunting details. The weapons will visually flare with dark energy as damage is dealt, and at Level 4, will feature haunting swirled shadows and sound effects upon eliminating foes.
Both are available in the Mythic Shop and can be fully unlocked with 80 Mythic Prisms.
