NES-Inspired Platformer ‘Everdeep Aurora’ Launches On PC & Switch This July

Developer Nautilus Games and publisher Ysbryd Games have announced a release date for Everdeep Aurora, a lonely, desolate, yet hope-filled 2D platformer. The game is set to be released on Windows PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

After apocalyptic meteor showers drive civilization underground, a young cat named Shell finds herself alone on the destroyed planet’s surface. Guided only by a letter from her missing mother, she sets off on a journey to reunite with her family. Using a drill, you’ll bore through procedurally generated stone tiles to create platforming opportunities as Shell’s journey leads to underground landforms, gardens, mansions, and mysteries.

Game Features

  • Meet over 20 of the Everdeep’s charming denizens, and fulfill their quests to earn their trust. As you drill further away from your new friends, find comfort in the bonds you’ve created across a combat-free adventure.
  • Retro-inspired graphics and sound design, with a limited color palette and square interface inspired by the Nintendo Entertainment System.
  • Immersive visual storytelling told through smoothly animated cutscenes and satisfying color-grading transitions differentiating the Everdeep’s biomes.
  • Supports English, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese text.

“When thinking about how to stage Shell’s journey underground into the confines of the Everdeep, we were confronted with the task of dreaming up a whole original civilization. We had to ask ourselves how its inhabitants would go about their lives in this new, unexplored home. We ended up creating an extraordinary world that we’re proud to soon share with new explorers.” shared Mikel Ojea, co-founder of Nautilus Games.

Everdeep Aurora launches on Windows PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on Thursday, July 10, for USD $19.99.
