Capcom has released a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an all-new instalment in the Onimusha series scheduled for release in 2026. The exciting new trailer introduces new details about the game’s characters and action-packed gameplay, including the fearsome Sasaki Ganryu.
Introducing Sasaki Ganryu
Sasaki Ganryu is a mysterious swordsman also known by the name Sasaki Kojiro, who also wields an Oni Gauntlet. His fate seems inescapably intertwined with Musashi’s, driving both of them to engage in fierce sword combat.
Fans were given a glimpse of the game’s exhilirating sword-fighting action, featuring powerful moves like the “Issen”, a swift, decisive strike executed just before an opponent’s attack lands.
What fate lies ahead for both wielders of the Oni Gauntlet? And who is the strange woman who appears at the end of the trailer? Fans will just have to wait to see how the game’s story unfolds.
New Unseen Stages
In addition to the new character, the trailer also revealed a new stage, featuring floating ruins and massive boulders suspended in the air. Unlike the previously showcased Kiyomizu-dera, this mysterious and fantastical setting presents new, otherworldy challenges, with unique mechanics required to overcome obstacles.
The new stage also brings with it new foes. The Daidara is a towering Genma that revels in wreaking havoc with mighty wings of its intimidating club.Constantly in a state of hunger, he seeks out sustenance with an obsessive fervor.
The much smaller, but no less dangerous Kubi Akari is a strange, floating Genma variant, whose skin has a pale-bluish hue. They consume the floating souls that Musashi needs for his gauntlet, and puff up before firing blasts of energy at their prey. Despite their diminutive size, they should not be underestimated.
