VTuber Usada Pekora To Cameo In Death Stranding 2 As A Prepper

Kojima Productions’ 2019 debut game Death Stranding introduced us to Sam Porter Bridges, a courier who delivers packages across a desolate, post-apocalyptic America. Along the way, Sam can form connections with up to 36 “preppers”, or people who live in isolated bunkers, with a series of rewards being unlocked for each successful bond.

Now, it seems that VTuber Usada Pekora will be joining the sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, as one such prepper. The news was revealed in a clip shown ahead of Kojima Productions’ appearance at Summer Game Fest.

For those not in the know, Usada Pekora is a Japanese-speaking VTuber under the agency Hololive, who currently boasts over 2.7 million followers on YouTube. One such follower happens to be Kojima Productions’ enigmatic CEO Hideo Kojima, who’s well known as a fan of hers, having even invited her to tour his studio back in 2024.

Pekora’s 2024 studio tour sparked rumours among fans of her possible involvement in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, as many of Kojima’s favourite celebrities have found their way into the Death Stranding games over the years. The first game starred The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus as Sam, and the upcoming On The Beach will feature names such as Elle Fanning and Léa Seydoux, just to name a few.

Still, even with this clip seemingly confirming Pekora’s appearance in Death Stranding 2, plenty of questions remain. How do VTubers still exist in a post-apocalyptic world? What kind of rewards will you be able to earn from spending time with her? And – most importantly – does she still have her monkey?
