Indonesia-based Gilang Gumelar Studios has announced the upcoming release of Yasuke: My Legendary Samurai, a stylized anime-inspired boss battle game launching on Steam this June.
The game follows Yasuke, an otaku trapped inside the game Yasuke: My Legendary Samurai, who must defeat five powerful bosses across five different stages. The combat focuses entirely on boss battles, inspired by Soulslike games such as Sekiro, combined with stylized anime visuals reminiscent of popular RPGs like Persona and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Yasuke: My Legendary Samurai’s Steam page additionally describes it as a lightweight game that can be run on low-spec laptops, which will also feature skippable dialogue. It’s also described as a game that “trains your patience”, a definite nod to its Soulslike inspirations.
Gilang Gumelar Studios is led by solo developer Gilang Gumelar, a lifelong game enthusiast who believes challenging games can still be fun. Yasuke: My Legendary Samurai will be the studio’s debut title, set for a June 2025 release.
