Dark Academia Murder Mystery ‘Death & Faeology’ Releases New Game Demo

The latest demo for Death & Faeology, the dark academia-themed murder mystery visual novel from Mushroomallow Studio, has officially launched on Steam. According to the team, the game has undergone a major narrative and script overhaul following player feedback, refining character depth, investigation mechanics, and the game’s atmosphere.

Set in 1920s New York City, Death & Faeology blends murder mystery with mythical elements, introducing faeries and their magic into both storytelling and gameplay. Players can interact with key characters, gather evidence, and utilize detective tools (including a magnifying glass, blacklight for faerie magic, and faerie encyclopedia) to piece together the truth.

Key Updates

  • New endings and enriched story progression: The demo now features seven endings, up from the previous five, alongside additional clues and revised evidence to elevate the mystery-solving experience.
  • Expanded narrative and enhanced dialogue: Character personalities have been refined to better reflect the era and their individual arcs. Florence now balances scientific expertise with hidden sorrow, while Theo is composed yet skeptical.
  • Improved investigation mechanics: Players can now present deductions with the correct evidence, making detective work more dynamic. Be careful—Theo can call you out if your logic doesn’t hold!
