Netflix Releases Teaser Trailer For Its First Korean Animated Film, ‘Lost In Starlight’

Netflix has revealed a new poster and teaser trailer for its first Korean animated film, Lost In Starlight. The film is directed by Han Ji-Won, who was dubbed the “animation prodigy of South Korea” when she released her debut film, Clearer Than You Think, at just 25 years old.

Lost in Starlight is a sci-fi romance set in a near-future version of Seoul. Astronaut Nan-young visits an audio equipment repair shop to fix an old record player her mom left behind, where she runs into a musician named Jay. A romance slowly blossoms across their many adorable dates, set against the film’s unique retro-cyberpunk aesthetic.

However, when Nan-young is selected for a mission that sends her to Mars, she will inevitably have to leave Jay behind. How will the two navigate their journey towards their dreams and love?

The film has recieved high praise from various filmmakers, including Parasite and Mickey 17 director Bong Joon-ho, who described the film as “a visual masterpiece (that) takes you around the universe”. It will also feature the voices of acclaimed K-drama actors Kim Tae-ri (The Handmaiden) and Hong Kyung (Innocence) as Nan-young and Jay, respectively.

Lost in Starlight debuts exclusively on Netflix this May 30.
