BEENOS Inc., the owners of the Japanese proxy shopping service Buyee, has released its “2024 Cross-Border E-Commerce × Anime Hit Rankings” report, which is a data-driven list that compiles the most popular titles sold through the service in the past year.
According to the report, anime-related merchandise accounted for 29% of all purchases on Buyee in 2024, which is a 4% increase from 25% in 2023. Growth was also especially strong in Southeast Asia and Latin America.

When it came to sales of anime merchandise, classics like Pokémon, Dragon Ball and One Piece reigned supreme at the top three spots, followed closely by Yu-Gi-Oh and a surprising new contender: Chiikawa, who beat out Gundam, Jujutsu Kaisen and Kamen Rider for fifth place.
This was attributed to Chiikawa’s tremendous popularity in East Asia, as it was the region’s most popular series purchased through Buyee.

Among anime titles that premiered their first season in 2024, Blue Archive led the way with first place, followed by Wind Breaker and Kaiju No. 8. Kaiju No.8 in particular consistently ranked within the top five in all major regions, showcasing its strong international appeal.
