3 Southeast Asian Indie Games Launching This April

Southeast Asia is home to one of the most vibrant and creative indie gaming scenes in the world. Not only do they tell uniquely Asian stories in thoughtful and complex ways, but they also showcase our culture through unique world building and gameplay. With three new narrative-driven titles coming out this April, let’s check out what they have in store!


5th April: Kabaret from Persona Theory Games

Persona Theory Games is a Malaysian indie narrative games studio known for creating Fires At Midnight. Their second studio release, Kabaret, follows a cursed boy named Jebat who is transported to the Alam Bunian, a mystical and unforgiving monster realm. In order to break his curse, Jebat is tasked with performing tea ceremonies and listening to the unique stories from different Southeast Asian-inspired mythical creatures.

11th April: Rendezvous from Pendopo Creations

Pendopo Creations is a four-person indie studio based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Their debut action-puzzle adventure game, Rendezvous, tells the tale of family, betrayal, and dangerous secrets set against the backdrop of Neo-Surabaya in the year 2064. You play as Setyo, a former criminal agent turned security technician, who must face his own sins in order to save what’s left of his family.

20th April: Coffee Talk Episode 2 from Toge Productions

Toge Productions is an Indonesia-based indie game development and publishing studio, best known for releasing the cozy coffee brewing and talking simulator Coffee Talk back in 2020. Three years later, Coffee Talk finally returns for Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly featuring a few familiar faces, some new features, and more heart-warming stories. For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, you’ll be delighted to know that Episode 2 will be available on day one.
