DC Comics’ virtual fan event, DC FanDome, returned for its second year on the 16th of October. The one-day livestream featured a slew of announcements for the brand’s upcoming movies, games, TV shows, comics and more.
If you’re a fan of DC’s film universe and want to know what’s coming to the silver (and small) screen, here’s all the movie announcements that were made during the event:
Live Action
The Batman
The event’s most anticipated reveal by far, fans were treated to a closer look at Robert Pattinson’s Batman in a brand-new trailer. The Batman is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
Black Adam
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson goes antihero in Black Adam, premiering July 29, 2022. The announcement included a look at some of the film’s concept art, as well as supporting characters Dr Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher.
The Flash
Ezra Miller’s Flash dives headfirst into the multiverse in a new trailer featuring both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as Batman. The film is scheduled for a November 4, 2022 release.
Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom
Director James Wan showed off some new concept art and behind-the-scenes footage for his sequel to Aquaman, premiering December 16, 2022.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
The sequel to 2019’s Shazam promises more action, more exotic sets, and a new villain duo played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu. The film is set for a 2023 release.
Blue Beetle
The creative team behind HBO Max’s upcoming Blue Beetle shared their insights on what fans can expect from the film, promising an authentic Mexican-American experience that’s fun, humorous and emotional.
Batgirl
Leslie Grace of In The Heights fame will portray Batgirl in an upcoming film premiering exclusively on HBO Max, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
Animation
DC’s League of Super-Pets
Need a superhero film for the whole family? DC’s League of Super-Pets might just be the thing for you. This all-ages comedy follows Krypto and Ace the Bat-Hound as they lead a team of crime-fighting pets.
Injustice
Inspired by the comic and video game series of the same name, the Injustice animated movie will be made available on digital platforms and Blu-Ray on October 19th.
Catwoman: Hunted
Coming Febuary 8, 2022, Catwoman: Hunted sees Catwoman and Batwoman duke it out over the former’s attempted jewel heist in a new anime-inspired movie.
Elizabeth Gillies, who plays Catwoman in the film, also presented a series of announcements for upcoming DC animated films:
- DC Showcase animated shorts collection: A compilation of five animated shorts, including a new short titled Constantine: The House of Mystery.
- Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse: A crossover animated film featuring DC’s popular kids’ series.
- Green Lantern: Beware My Power: No plot details are known about this film, but it’s been given a summer release date.
- Battle of the Super Sons: Premiering this fall, this is the first DC animated movie to be produced in CG.
- Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition: The two-part animated movie will be combined into one for easier viewing, and will be given a 4K Ultra HD release.
