Indie games have been storming the gaming industry with their creative and amazing take on different genres and gameplays. However in reality, many indie companies struggle to advance, or even sustain game development and distribution, due to the lack of financial support and other necessary resources.
Therefore, to start off the new year, Storms and their partner, Adjust, have announced a competition where indie game developers worldwide can join to win amazing rewards!
First, What Is Storms?
Storms is a gaming startup invested in by Singtel, AIS & SK Telecom. They focus on strategic initiatives ranging from casual video game publishing to gaming news or communities, as well as consultation for games. The team is made up of gaming veterans who are dedicated to fueling the growth of Southeast Asian-based indie and mid-size game studios to excel in global markets.
So, What is Storm The World 2021?
The competition was created to support indie game studios and developers with paid user acquisition and strategic game advice, as many lack the financial capability and expertise that limits them from advancing further in the market.
Game developers around the world can submit their games for entry from now all the way till 28th February 2021 through the Storms website. Some of the rules for submission include:
- Submitted games should be available on the Google Play Store and/or Apple App Store;
- Submitted games cannot be previously tested with Storms;
- Game developers can submit an unlimited amount of games;
- Expected CPI should be at, or below USD $0.25 in the United States, with a D1 Retention rate above 35%
Each submission will be judged based on its potential for success, its user acquisition prospects and user retention capability. After that, the top three winners will be announced in the following month.
What About The Rewards?
Storms The World 2021 has a total prize pool of SGD$ 360,000, which is approximately USD$270,000. The amount will be distributed as such:
- First prize: SGD$ 160,000
- Second prize: SGD$ 120,000
- Third prize: SGD$ 80,000
Aside from cash prizes, the top three submissions will be awarded an exclusive publishing contract under Storms! Through Storms’ support, winners will get to distribute their games to a global audience and scale its monetization profitably.
Overall, Storms aims to boost the growth of indie game developers who they believe have high potential to develop and be successful.
