Crying for Devilman Crybaby

Disclaimer: This series is not intended for children or the fainthearted.

Boobs, sex and blood.

That was the first impression I had on Netflix’s latest anime series, Devilman Crybaby.

With only a few days into 2018 , Netflix released an anime that’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. With 10 episodes in the first season, everyone is already talking about it, and fan art is popping up non-stop for it.

It is visually stunning and a style that’s out of this world. Directed by Masaaki Yuasa who also worked on Mind Game, Ping Pong: The Animation, and also as a story boarder for Adventure Time, he definitely raised the standards of animation and – seriously – I can’t stop showing my love for his art style! Being an anime with so many grotesque and really explicit scenes, I thought I would get tired of its shock value early on but Devilman Crybaby makes itself easy to love.

Its story is basically about a high schooler, Akira Fudo, an average boy who can’t stop crying about everything, getting dragged along by his best friend Ryo Asuka who is a character totally opposite to Akira, into a demon hunting mission to save the world!

With unique storytelling and atmosphere that were put into the show by the director, I would recommend this show for all of you above 18! I’m not going to share anything more than that so you can have a taste of it without any warning, as I have. Heh.
