At Anime Expo 2026, Crunchyroll and Aniplex officially announced Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, a theatrical film that continues where Solo Leveling Season 2 left off. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a new key visual and teaser trailer for the film.
Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will be produced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C Media and Kakao Piccoma, with animation provided by A-1 Pictures, the same studio behind the original Solo Leveling anime series. An official release date was not announced during the event.
The Solo Leveling franchise originated as a web novel by author Chugong, which is set in an RPG-style world where Hunters battle against monsters. It follows Sung Jin-woo, a low-rank Hunter who gains extraordinary abilities after a near-death experience. As he levels up, he becomes humanity’s unexpected hope, defending against monstrous threats emerging from beyond the mysterious Gates.
The novel was later adapted into a webtoon and anime series, with the latter making history as the first Korean animation to win nine major categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including the coveted Anime of the Year award.
