‘Discounty’ Drops Free ‘People Or Profit?’ Content Expansion

PQube and Crinkle Cut Games revealed a major free update during Wholesome Direct for their charming and quirky supermarket life sim Discounty, the People or Profit? Expansion. The expansion is available to download now on Steam, with a release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in July.

The People or Profit? Expansion takes place directly after the original ending of Discounty. In the brand-new chapter, Aunt Tellar finally puts players in charge, leaving them responsible for deciding the fate of Discounty… and Blomkest. Depending on the decisions players make through the branching final questline, and the people they decide to align with, they will see one of three new endings to the game.

Throughout the chapter, players will cross paths with three eccentric new characters; Gaspard, Tammy’s disgraced brother who dreams of running a hydroponic farm; Angeel, a bougie city girl opening a branch of the luxury grocery store Muimerp; and Casey, a “troubled” teen attempting to sell players “legitimate” goods from the trunk of their car.

Alongside a new quest line, the People or Profit? Expansion also introduces:

Town Restoration

Take on renovations big and small to restore Blomkest to its former glory! Help Solruna get back her old shop, reopen the long-neglected John Key museum, pry open the mysterious old shed…or erect Discounty billboards all over town.

Shop Gadgets

Players can discover Jürgen’s old workshop to create advanced gadgets that bring their shop into the modern age. From a self-checkout register to an online order fulfilment system, there are plenty of new options to enhance the store.

Choose Your Items

Players can now select which items they want to stock in their shop and, with the inclusion of 35 new items, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Shop Events

Random events will force players to shift their tactics, making no two shop days the same.

Buy a House

Move out of Aunt Tellar’s old trailer and into a bigger, permanent house.
