‘Lore Olympus’ To Receive Animated Adaptation For Amazon Prime Video

The popular webtoon series Lore Olympus will be adapted into an animated series for Amazon Prime Video, set to release exclusively in over 240 regions around the world. The series will be co-produced by The Jim Henson Company, Webtoon Productions and Amazon MGM Studios, and is said to be The Jim Henson Company’s first adult show.

Originally created by artist Rachel Smythe, Lore Olympus re-imagines the Greek myth of Persephone and Hades through a modern lens, where the two gods strike up a romance after meeting at a party. The series is one of Webtoon’s biggest titles, currently standing at 1.8 billion views; and is one of the first webcomics to win an Eisner Award, a Harvey Award, and a Ringo Award in the same year.

“Through her beautiful and creative Lore Olympus, Rachel Smythe has created a new approach to the Greek myth of Persephone that is as relevant today as ever, and features the kind of vibrant world building that we find deeply inspiring,” shared Lisa Henson, executive producer at The Jim Henson Company. “It is a true privilege to be partnering with Webtoon on one of their most popular titles.”

“With stunning artwork, rich storytelling, and unforgettable characters, Lore Olympus and Rachel Smythe have built a passionate global fandom clamouring for more,” added David Madden, president of Webtoon Productions. “Lore Olympus is a title that will continue to speak to readers for generations, and this new animated adaptation will bring the story to more fans around the world in a new format.”
