GSC International Screens is collaborating with Searchlight Pictures for its new “In Search Of…”, showcase, a screening of selected titles that depict “the elegant decay of human relationships”. The showcase will run from 9 October to 2 November, featuring 4 different movie titles: Downhill (2020), Nightmare Alley (2021), and The Menu (2023), leading up to the release of The Roses (2025) on 23 October.
Each film shows a different side of how people drift, clash, or turn on each other, offering a raw, honest take on the messiness of human connection. The Roses (2025) in particular is a powerful reimagining of the 1989 classic The War of the Roses, starring Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch in a seemingly perfect, yet secretly unravelling marriage.
To complete the total cinematic experience, a specially curated menu inspired by the featured films will be available exclusively at Velvet Restaurant and Bar (Sunway 163 Mall), JIN Gastrobar (The Gardens Mall and Southkey JB), and Kissa Cafe and Diner (The Exchange TRX) from 1 October onwards, priced at RM79.90 per set. The dining experience unfolds with:
- Nightmare Elixir: An asparagus soup with a quail egg in the centre, featuring traces of black truffle.
- The Perfect Cheeseburger: Inspired by none other than the cheeseburger made by Chef Slowik in The Menu, offering a choice of beef or chicken patties.
- Bloody Love: Inspired by The Roses, the layers of red velvet represent layers of sweet passion, desire, and envy.
- Sweet Avalanche: Inspired by Downhill, these icy-blue chocolate pralines sit on a crisp biscuit crumble, just slightly off-balance.
