The Last Of Us Season 2 Reveals First Full-Length Trailer

The Last of Us Season 2 has a trailer now and we haven’t stopped crying over it. The HBO Original Series released its first full-length trailer in conjunction with The Last of Us Day on September 26th, which is the day the outbreak reached critical mass in the game’s narrative. HBO also confirmed that Season 2 will be released sometime in 2025.

The trailer gives us our first proper look at key cast members for the second season, including Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Young Mazino as Jesse. It also gives us our first preview of the Seraphites, or Scars, a primitivist cult and antagonistic faction who played a large role in the second game.

Fans of the video game may recognise a handful of familiar scenes, including Abby’s tutorial sequence in the game, Joel teaching Ellie how to play the guitar, and not forgetting the iconic Take On Me scene between Ellie and Dina. Do you recognise any others? Let us know in the comments below!

The Last of Us Season 1 first aired on January 15th, 2023 to critical acclaim, leading to the second season being renewed less than two weeks after its series premiere. The first season covered the events of the 2013 video game of the same name, and the second season is expected to cover the entirety of the 2020 sequel game in its seven episode run-time.

Neil Druckmann, the co-creator of The Last of Us, returns to helm the second season with Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). They are also joined by writers Halley Gross (Westworld) and Bo Shim, the former of whom co-wrote The Last of Us Part II video game with Druckmann.

Together with the trailer drop, HBO has also revealed the key art for the second season designed by Greg Ruth, who previously designed for Dune, Coming Home, and Freaks of the Heartland.
