FFXIV x FFVII Remake – Keybound Brawler Event Quick Guide

Fellow Warriors of Light, a new event has dawned in FFXIV and it’s themed after FFVII Remake! The Keybound Brawler event is a limited time event beginning 28th October, 2026 until the release of Evercold (Patch 8.0).

The event features new rewards and a new minigame centered around FFVII Remake. Here’s what you need to know!

How To Participate?

Simply head over to the Manderville Gold Saucer (“MGS“) and look for the Catlike Mammet at the coordinates in the picture above. From here, simply do the quest it gives you and you’ll be eligible to participate. Upon completion, you’ll be able to access the Keybound Square via W’zazanh in the Gold Saucer (X:6.1, Y:7.3).

Congratulations! You can now register for the Keybound Brawler Duty via the Keybound Registrar, located at the Keybound Square (X:5.9, Y:6.0), MGS.

How To Play?

The Keybound Brawler is a test of your (typing) reflexes! What you’ll have to do is type the words that appear above the enemies head correctly to reduce the HP bar to 0 and prevent them from attacking you. However, if your HP bar reaches 0, the duty is failed and you’ll have to start over!

Some enemies have special abilities that you’ll have to look out for like:

  • Letterlock – makes you refrain from typing until the attack is over, otherwise you’ll be temporarily immobilised;
  • Cryptic Communications – makes words veiled under static giving brief glimpses, making it harder to see what they are;
  • Barrier Busters – attacks that must be blocked by powering up a barrier by inputting the correct words; and
  • Interrupt-able Spells – where you’ll have to land attacks corresponding the numbers below the enemy’s cast bar.

Rewards!

There are some really cool rewards to get from the event! Completing the event will earn you the standard MGP along with MGC. The most notable of the rewards are the Avalanche Set and the Avalanche Leader Set. If you recognise them, it’s because they are Tifa’s and Barret’s outfits!

Another major reward is the Magitek Scorpion mount. Additionally, you’ll also be able to unlock the Wind-Up Barret minion and the Ballroom Etiquette – Intrepid Inputs emote, as well as many more FFVII Remake-related prizes!

To redeem your prizes, simply head over to the MGC trader in the Keybound Square.

*After this collaboration event has ended, it will be held as a special event at irregular intervals
