Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, a new mixed reality experience set in Andy Weir’s bestselling sci-fi universe, is set to launch globally in autumn 2026 on PICO, Android XR and Meta Quest 3/3S.
The upcoming experience will tell an original chapter of the Hail Mary mission, putting players in the role of Ryland Grace as they face new challenges while deep in space. A new trailer has also been released ahead of pre-orders, offering a closer look at the interactive experience.
Step Into the Hail Mary
Rather than simply observing the events of Project Hail Mary, players will become part of the mission by using their own physical surroundings as part of the experience. As Ryland Grace, players will need to diagnose problems, improvise solutions and apply science and engineering to keep the Hail Mary mission on track.
The mixed reality format combines the player’s real-world environment with the spacecraft, creating an interactive experience designed to make players feel as though they have stepped directly into the story.
Rocky Returns
The experience will also feature Rocky, with actor James Ortiz returning to perform the character. Ortiz highlighted that fans will be able to interact with Rocky using the same character model featured in the film, while experiencing a completely new part of Rocky’s journey alongside Grace.
Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars is scheduled to launch globally this autumn on PICO, Android XR and Meta Quest 3/3S. Pre-orders are expected to open soon, with players able to wishlist the experience ahead of its release.
