Global apparel retailer UNIQLO has announced a new Pokémon UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) collection commemorating Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebration, available from Monday, July 27. This special collection features designs inspired by the original Pokémon games, expressed in monochrome pixel graphics.
Inspired by Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, the designs feature nostalgic elements like the games’ opening screen, and fan-favourite Pokémon such as Pikachu, Mew and Mewtwo, as well as the Pokémon of the eight Gym Leaders that players encountered during their journey. The Pokémon are drawn in pixel art, with four designs each for adults and kids.
A special Pokémon UT website launching Wednesday, July 8, will feature the pixel art T-shirt designs along with music from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, tied to the theme of each design, allowing visitors to enjoy the melodies while reminiscing about each scene.
