My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi will release a new one-shot manga via Weekly Shonen Jump this August. Titled Waranaide yo Shijima-san (“Don’t Laugh, Shijima-san”), the manga will mark Horikoshi’s first new release since My Hero Academia’s conclusion in 2024.
While exact plot details and characters are still being kept under wraps, we do know that Waranaide yo Shijima-san is being described as a “boy meets girl horror story”. The one-shot will span 61 pages, including a colour spread, in the combined Issue 37 and 38 of Weekly Shonen Jump.
Kohei Horikoshi first began his career in 2007 with the one-shot manga Tenko, followed by his first serialized manga, Oumagadoki Zoo, in 2010. His career saw a dramatic shift with the release of My Hero Academia in 2014, where it would go on to become one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s biggest titles, selling over 100 million copies worldwide as of 2026.
