Sony Pictures Animation has officially announced the fifth installment in its hit monster comedy franchise, The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 8, 2027.
The new animated feature is being co-produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon MGM Studios, continuing the partnership established after Amazon secured exclusive streaming rights to Hotel Transylvania: Transformania during the COVID-19 pandemic. A first-look image for the film has also been unveiled.
The Drac Pack Returns
Jennifer Kluska, who co-directed Hotel Transylvania: Transformania and previously worked as a story artist on the second and third films, will direct the new movie alongside franchise veteran Alan Hawkins, who has contributed to the series since its inception as an animator and animation supervisor.
The film is being produced by Lawrence Jonas, while franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns as executive producer alongside longtime producer Michelle Murdocca.
A Billion-Dollar Franchise
First launched in 2012, the Hotel Transylvania series is based on an original concept by Todd Durham and follows Dracula, his daughter Mavis, and a colorful cast of classic movie monsters living together in a luxury resort designed exclusively for supernatural creatures.
The first three films, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, collectively earned more than $1.38 billion at the global box office. The fourth installment, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, skipped theaters and premiered exclusively on Prime Video in 2022.
