During MAPPA’s 15th anniversary lineup presentation, the studio revealed new updates for three anime titles to be streamed worldwide on Netflix: JIMOTO SAIKO!, BEAT & MOTION and Ranma 1/2 Season 3. This marks the first wave of updates following the announcement of Netflix and MAPPA’s strategic partnership in January 2026.
Here’s a quick overview of everything that was revealed:
JIMOTO SAIKO!
Based on a web manga by usagi, the Netflix-exclusive anime series JIMOTO SAIKO! follows Chanel-chan and her friends as they navigate life in the hometown they proudly call the “absolute best” — no matter what madness unfolds around them. A teaser trailer was released in conjunction with the announcement, featuring the song “Milk” by singer-songwriter aiko.
Creator and author usagi shared, “I am absolutely thrilled that the manga I just started randomly putting out there, calling it a ‘serialization’ on my own whim, is actually being turned into an anime! (…) I don’t know what the future holds, but with that hope in my heart, I want to see JIMOTO SAIKO! through to its final chapter! To everyone who has ever read even a single page of it, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am so, so excited for the anime!”
BEAT & MOTION
Naoki Fujita’s manga BEAT & MOTION will be adapted into a Netflix-exclusive anime series, releasing in 2027. The series is a coming-of-age story gollowing Tatsuhiko, a young man who has lost sight of his dream, and Nico, an indie musician who refuses to give up on hers. Though they clash, the two unlock each other’s talent and begin moving toward a creative vision neither could reach alone.
The manga was originally serialized on “Shonen Jump+” from February 2023 to January 2025, where it became the Grand Prix winner of the manga creator scouting audition “MILLION TAG” hosted by Shueisha. Its anime adaptation will star Shuichiro Umeda (Hikaru from The Summer Hikaru Died) as Tatsuhiko Hirayama, opposite Aya Gomazuru (Maki from Monster Hunter Wilds) as Nico Kashiwagi.
Ranma 1/2 Season 3
A new trailer was released for Ranma 1/2 Season 3, the latest season of the all-new anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s timeless masterpiece, which will release exclusively on Netflix this October 2026. The Season 3 trailer offers a closer look at Ryoga Hibiki, whose rivalry with Ranma and feelings for Akane Tendo continue to intensify.
Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1987 to 1996, Ranma 1/2 follows Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, who have been betrothed to each other by their parents. But Ranma faces a unique problem – he transforms into a girl when doused with cold water, and reverts to a boy with hot water!
