India-based indie developer Aeos Games recently debuted a new gameplay trailer for Unleash the Avatar at Bilibili Game First Look, a dedicated showcase event hosted by the Chinese entertainment and gaming platform Bilibili.
The new trailer sees protagonist Vikram fighting against Kinkara, the servant of Yama, the Hindu god of death and justice. It shows off an assortment of combat options that will be available at launch, ranging from genre staples like dodge and parry attacks along with some new innovations like a ranged chakra and a flashy feather prism form.
Aeos Games also revealed that legendary voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch (Persona 4, Bleach, Devil May Cry, Power Rangers) will lend his iconic voice to the game’s resilient protagonist, Vikram. “We needed a voice that could convey both absolute vulnerability and unstoppable, relentless willpower of Vikram, ” said Varun Mayya, Co-Founder of Aeos Games.
“Johnny Yong Bosch delivers exactly that. His performance perfectly captures the exhaustion of dying a thousand times in true Soulslike fashion, alongside the fiery defiance required to challenge godly powers. We can’t wait for players to experience the story through his performance.”
Unleash the Avatar is a Soulslike set in an alternate high-fantasy universe inspired by Indian epics, featuring breathtaking environments scanned directly from historic towns across India. Experience a fragmented-chakra engine featuring its own physics, an expertly engineered parry model, and a centrally-tuned enemy AI that aggressively punishes or pressures based on posture.
