Malaysia Boardgame Show Delivers a Packed Weekend at The School, Jaya One

The Malaysia Boardgame Show brought a lively weekend of tabletop fun to The School, Jaya One from 18–19 April, drawing in both casual visitors and dedicated boardgame fans. With a mix of free and ticketed areas, the event attracted a solid crowd of families, hobbyists, and curious newcomers.

One of the event’s strengths was its hybrid structure. The free section gave visitors access to a lineup of local vendors and a general free-to-play area, making it easy to drop in and try something new. Families with kids, groups of friends, and seasoned enthusiasts could all be seen enjoying the variety of games on display.

Meanwhile, the ticketed section added extra value for those willing to pay. Attendees who bought tickets received a goodie bag stocked with vouchers, a bingo card, and other small perks. More importantly, it unlocked access to an exclusive board game library, organized tournaments, learning sessions led by experienced game masters, and even a space to buy and sell second-hand games.

Malaysian and Southeast Asian boardgames were front and center at the event, showcasing the creativity present within the region. Among the standout local games were Who Farted?, Kaya, and Roti Canai, which consistently drew attention at demo tables. On the international side of things, Stuck in a Lift by BGN Thailand emerged as a crowd favorite.

Beyond gameplay, there were plenty of side activities to keep things interesting. Lucky draws and bingo card challenges added a layer of excitement, while silent and Dutch auctions created a small but lively marketplace. These auctions featured everything from brand-new titles to pre-loved games, and even a custom-built board gaming table.

Overall, the Malaysia Boardgame Show was a welcome addition to the growing tabletop scene in Malaysia, providing visitors with a weekend of fun games and community. For more from Malaysia Boardgame Show, be sure to follow them on their socials.
