The popular manga series Kagurabachi is officially being adapted into an anime, scheduled to air in April 2027. The anime will be produced by Cypic, with Tetsuya Takeuchi as series director, Keigo Sasaki as character designer, and starring Taibi Kimura as series protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira.
Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young man whose life is forever changed when a mysterious organization kills his father, a renowned blacksmith, and steals six enchanted blades from their home. Chihiro takes up the seventh enchanted blade left behind by his father, and sets out on a bloodstained journey of revenge.
The Kagurabachi series adapts a manga by Takeru Hokazono, which was first serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023. While it initially launched to lukewarm reception, attention from overseas readers helped skyrocket the title to fame, becoming the number-one title on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus app within the first week of its English-language release. The series has since gone on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide, with 11 collected volumes in total.
Reflecting its global success, the Kagurabachi anime is also slated to go on a world tour this summer, where the first 20 minutes of the first episode will be screened at various anime conventions around the world. The tour will conclude in Japan with a special event featuring various guests, as well as a screening of the full episode ahead of its official broadcast.
