Indie developer Kinmoku has announced the highly anticipated console release of its critically acclaimed narrative adventure, VIDEOVERSE. The game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on November 14th, with new additions such as an enhanced interface, art gallery, and full Japanese localisation.
VIDEOVERSE transports players to an alternative 2003, a time when the fictional Kinmoku Shark gaming system and its online platform, Videoverse, were at their cultural peak. Players step into the shoes of Emmett, a young and avid gamer, exploring online communities and fandoms—like the one surrounding the popular RPG, Feudal Fantasy—all while uncovering a corporate conspiracy tied to the Kinmoku Shark itself.

As Emmett, players will make choices that shape his relationships, from posting supportive messages and sharing fan art to deciding whether to report disruptive “trolls” or even embrace chaos themselves. The choices players make will ultimately influence Emmett’s journey and could determine the fate of the Videoverse platform.
The game draws inspiration from iconic early internet platforms such as MSN Messenger, MySpace, and Nintendo’s Miiverse, recapturing the unique feeling of these bygone digital spaces. This nostalgic trip is reinforced by its distinct 1-bit pixel art style and an immersive soundtrack from Clark Aboud, known for his work on Slay the Spire and Kind Words.
Kinmoku, also known as solo developer Lucy Blundell, commented:“VIDEOVERSE is my love letter to video games. It’s a coming-of-age story interwoven with the death of a video game console, and explores how capitalism and time march on but leave people and their personal relationships behind. It’s a game for anyone who’s grown up loving video games!”
