Rockstar Games has unveiled a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, offering fans a closer look at the Game Awards-certified Most Anticipated Game of 2024. The game, which was originally set to release in fall of 2025, has been delayed for a May 26, 2026 release.
GTA VI will transport players to the Florida-inspired state of Leonida, which features a variety of environments for players to explore, from the neon-lit streets of Vice City, to the tranquil beaches of the Leonida Keys, and the untamed wetlands of the Grassrivers.
Meet the Characters
- Jason Duval: A former soldier running from his troubled youth, Jason seeks a fresh start in the Keys, working for local drug runners. His life takes a turn when he meets Lucia, and together, they become entangled in a vast criminal conspiracy. Jason is one of the game’s two playable protagonists.
- Lucia Caminos: Hailing from Liberty City, Lucia’s early life was marked by hardship. After serving time in Leonida Penitentiary, she is determined to carve out a better future for herself – a future that she sees in Jason. Ready to take matters into her own hands, Lucia will be the second of the two playable protagonists.
- Cal Hampton: A friend of Jason’s, Cal is an Internet conspiracy theorist who prefers the safety of his own home, monitoring Coast Guard communications with a few beers and some private browser tabs open.
- Boobie Ike: A Vice City legend who has transformed his street reputation into a legitimate empire, Boobie owns a strip club, a recording studio, and real estate. He aims to make Only Raw Records a household name through his partnership with Dre’Quan Priest .
- Dre’Quan Priest: An aspiring music mogul, Dre’Quan hustled his way from being a street dealer into joining the music industry. With the Real Dimez signed to his label, he’s out to take Vice City’s music scene by storm.
- Real Dimez: A rap duo made up of childhood friends Bae-Luxe and Roxy, who gained fame with an early viral hit. Now, five years later, they’re signed to Only Raw Records, hoping lightning can strike twice.
- Raul Bautista: A seasoned bank robber with a knack for spotting talent, Raul’s crew is always on the lookout for the next big score.
- Brian Heder: A veteran drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys, Brian continues to move product through his boat yard, and offers Jason a place to stay – in exchange for his help with local shakedowns.
New Locations
- Vice City: A vibrant metropolis known for its art deco architecture, bustling nightlife, and diverse neighborhoods, from the upscale Ocean Beach to the lively Little Cuba.
- Leonida Keys: A tropical archipelago offering laid-back bars, scenic beaches, and a gateway to the state’s more perilous waters.
- Grassrivers: A vast wetland area teeming with wildlife and hidden dangers, where players can encounter alligators and other threats lurking beneath the surface.
- Port Gellhorn: A forgotten coastal town with cheap motels and a new economy fueled by illicit activities, offering players a gritty backdrop for their adventures.
- Ambrosia: The industrial heart of Leonida, home to the Allied Crystal sugar refinery and a local biker gang, setting the stage for power struggles and economic battles.
- Mount Kalaga: A national landmark on the state’s northern border, offering prime hunting grounds and a haven for off-grid communities and radical groups.
