Netflix Is Working On A Clash Of Clans Animated Series

In huge news for dads everywhere, Netflix will be turning the mobile strategy game Clash of Clans into an animated series. The show, which is currently in pre-production, will follow an determined but in-over-his-head Barbarian, who must rally a band of misfits to defend their village and navigate the comically absurd politics of war.

The series will take inspiration from both Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, which are also two of the biggest games of all time, with over four billion downloads and 180 billion gameplay hours. Players act as a village chief, who must build up their own village and defend it from invaders. They can also team up with other players to form Clans, which can share troops and resources.

Fletcher Moules, who previously directed the Netflix animated film Entergalactic, will serve as  showrunner. He is joined by executive producer Ron Weiner, best known for producing hit series such as Silicon Valley, 30 Rock, and Futurama. Vancouver-based ICON Creative Studio will provide animation.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Netflix and this creative team to bring the world of Clash to life,” shared Curtis Lelash, head of film and TV at Supercell, the developers behind Clash of Clans. “Think epic battles, immaculate Barbarian mustaches, and the kind of humor our players know and love. They’ve been asking for a Clash series forever, and we’re beyond excited to finally say: It’s happening!”

“Clash has been a global gaming phenomenon for over a decade — filled with humor, action, and unforgettable characters perfect for an animated series adaptation,” says John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series at Netflix. “Working with the incredible team at Supercell, Fletcher Moules, and Ron Weiner, we’re bringing all the fun, chaos, and spirit of the world of Clash to life in a whole new way. We can’t wait for fans — old and new — to experience the mayhem.”

More updates about casting and the series’ release date are expected to be revealed soon.
